You might as well count me in on those who discovered and rode the train that was ‘zines’ during the
90’s….and the very few who didn’t let the boundaries of paper, toner and a staple hold back ones
self-expression either.

From 1997 to 2003, I used to do a cassette tape zine called Don-O’s AudioZineVille, a 90 min. tape
of me mumbling on topics, offering pieces of roaming on-location recordings and playing the
unusual and rare recordings. Kinda like a failed audition tape for a non-NPR collage radio station.

These tapes were given out to friends, unsuspecting or not.

After ’03, I hadn’t done much of this AZV deal, thanks to the elimination of the portable tape format. I
experimented with CD-R’s, but they required a little more work and after one AZV and a couple of
promotional compilations for my 2007 book SPACE AGE ASH TRAY, I unofficially gave AZV up.

As with any format changes, an audio idea like this reincarnates from one form to another and the
next stage is the mix of pure digital and the internet blog-o-sphere.

Only this time, I’m too broke to pay for ‘blog’ space for my long ass AZV “illegal podcasts”, so, thanks
to Audacity and a MegaUpload account, you can download and unzip the current batch of AZV’s to
your computer, portable plaything. Enjoy and good luck….
Don-O’s AudioZineVille #2
In this episode, the AZV resurfaces with the constant loop
of Don’t Bring Me Down done by more experienced yet just-
as-bored DJ’s and we pay our collective respects to the
currently tortured wonderland that is Las Vegas.

We manage to kill two hours with playing excerpts from the
early days of Negativland’s weekly radio show, Over The
Edge. Some rare, some never heard stuff, all blended into
together to entertain and confuse you. Just as it’s meant to
be…

Don-O’s AudioZineVille #4
We got ho-nelly down the nostalgia alley with another
‘tribute’ episode, this time it’s the late 70’s…in particularly,
1978-1979. Some odd ball, campy and corny from this era,
plus a few current takes on that crazy era!

Don-O’s AudioZineVille #5
I taken an old mix tape from the mid-90’s and incorporate
parts of that into this digital format as we look back on
oddball interesting moments that was radio, pre-Tele-
Communications Act of 1997 and pre-Clear Channel days.
On the side we tip the hat to Mr. American Splendor
himself, Mr. Harvey Pekar.

This time, I whip out the fanboy freak flag out as I
celebrate XANADU's 30 anniversary with just over 2 and
1/2 hours of covers and remixes of the entire soundtrack...
almost times 2! This episodes turned out so long that I had
to take out a 52 minute audio collage documentary of the
movie call
RETURNING TO XANADU! Enjoy with
cation!!
As an added bonus, I’ll include a zip file I slapped together for the
Xanadu Preservation Society. Someone sent me a multi-disc
compilation of pretty much everything audio from the movie,
soundtrack and the 2008 Broadway version and I was bold or
strange enough to do a 2 CD ‘best of’ set called
Ultimate
ULTIMATE Xanadu.

Random Assness Edition: Another quarter means another
excuse to abuse this podcast deal, only this time with no
themes nor ideas, just random “assness” to entertain or
bore your ears or ass with. The visual “assness” was
beautifully provided by
Ms. SaRenna Lee.
